Fossil Fuel Data Assimilation System

An international team of researchers developed the Fossil Fuel Data Assimilation System (FFDAS) as a high-resolution, global quantification of fossil fuel emissions. Using multiple satellite feeds, national fuel accounts and global power plant databases, FFDAS can estimate hourly CO₂ emissions at a scale of 10 kilometers. As policy makers and members of the public and private sectors are exceedingly in need of robust climate data, this system offers and independent, scientifically driven view of greenhouse gas emissions.
