About the speaker:
Dr Tia Scarpelli has experience in developing bottom-up inventories in collaboration with national governments and using remote sensing observations (OCO-2, TROPOMI, GOSAT) to improve understanding of greenhouse gas sources. At Carbon Mapper, she works with solid waste industry partners and regulatory stakeholders to develop data products and science questions that can motivate mitigation and support policy. This includes developing products and research results using airborne instruments (AVIRIS-NG/GAO) and satellites (EMIT, Tanager-1).
Overview of the topic:
The presentation will examine the various uses of remote sensing data to support greenhouse gas mitigation. It will cover a range of use cases, including how data can be used in partnership with stakeholders to directly mitigate leaks, and insights from data can help guide future policy and best practices across sectors. It will also provide an update on the Tanager-1 satellite and give examples of how stakeholders are using data to drive scientific insights.
