Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS)

WMO’s Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) Programme developed the Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS) to improve the ways in which we evaluate sources and sinks of greenhouse gases (GHG). This initiative provides reliable and up-to-date data on GHG emissions and removals which have been used by national governments, cities and other relevant organizations in their climate assessments/decisions and actions. The goal is to make this information timelier and more comprehensive using the best available science.

Logos for the Global Atmosphere Watch and the Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System are displayed side by side with their respective names and icons.

IG3IS creates tools and methodologies that offer useful insights about GHG emissions and removals. The user communities have used this information for:
•    Monitoring, verification and management of GHG emissions and removals across different spatial scales (from nations to cities and individual facilities); and
•    Providing insights into long-term climate planning and actions by diverse decision-makers.

By doing this, IG3IS helps users understand and reduce GHG emissions more effectively.
